Principles of Transparency

The Journal of Palembang Nursing Studies is following the COPE Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing. The Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association  (OASPA), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) are scholarly organizations that have seen an increase in the number, and broad range in the quality, of membership applications. The principles of transparency are explained below. 

Website: The journal’s website, including the text that it contains, clearly demonstrates that care has been taken to ensure high ethical and professional standards. It does not contain information that might mislead readers or authors, including any attempt to mimic another journal/publisher’s site. A ‘Focus & Scope’ statement is included on the JPNS website and the readership is clearly defined. There is a clear statement on what this journal will consider for publication including authorship criteria (e.g., not considering multiple submissions, redundant publications). The journal’s ISSN is clearly displayed (both on the website as well as on each individual article published).

Name of journal: The Journal of Palembang Nursing Studies is a unique name and not one that might be easily confused with another journal or that might mislead potential authors and readers about JPNS's origin or association with other journals. 

Peer-review policy and process: In the content of JPNS is clearly marked that this is a peer-reviewed journal. Peer-review policy and process, are clearly described on this journal’s website, including the method of peer review used. JPNS does not guarantee manuscript acceptance or very short peer review times.

Ownership and management: Information about the ownership and management of JPNS is clearly presented on the journal’s website. Publishers do not use organizational or journal names that would mislead potential authors and editors about the nature of the journal’s owner

Governing body: JPNS has an editorial team whose members are recognized experts in the subject areas included within the journal’s scope. The full names and affiliations of the journal’s editorial board are provided on the journal’s website.

Editorial team/contact information: JPNS provides the full names and affiliations of the journal’s editors on the journal website as well as contact information for the editorial office, including a full address.

Copyright and Licensing: The copyright term is explicitly outlined in the guidelines provided to authors, and the individual or entity holding the copyright is identified on all articles that have been published. Additionally, the guidelines available on the JPNS website provide a clear description of the licensing term, and it is clearly indicated on all published articles, regardless of whether they are in HTML or PDF format. Authors are allowed to publish under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial CC BY-NC 4.0.  The information about copyright can be seen here and licensing can be seen here

Author fees: Any fees or charges that are required for manuscript processing and publishing materials in the journal are clearly stated in author fees that are easy for potential authors to find prior to submitting their manuscripts for review or explained to authors before they begin preparing their manuscripts for submission. 

Process for identification of and dealing with allegations of research misconduct: JPNS's editors are committed to taking reasonable steps to identify and prevent the publication of papers where research misconduct has occurred, including plagiarism, citation manipulation, and data falsification/fabrication, among others. In no case do JPNS or its editors encourage such misconduct or knowingly allow such misconduct to take place. In the event that JPNS's editors are made aware of any allegation of research misconduct relating to a published article in this journal, the editors are committed to following COPE’s guidelines in dealing with allegations.

Publication Ethics: JPNS has detailed policies on publishing ethics. These should be clearly visible on its website. 

Publishing schedule: The periodicity at which JPNS publishes is three times a year (April, August, and December)

Access: The way in which the journal and individual articles are fully open access to readers and easy to download. 

Archiving: JPNS is included in the Public Knowledge Project Private Network (PKP PN), a distributed archiving system that creates permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. Revenue sources: The Journal of Palembang Nursing Studies (JPNS) accepts revenue from a range of sources to ensure wide and affordable access while maintaining high standards of quality and full editorial independence. The sources of income from publisher supports. The revenue sources do not influence editorial decision-making. The journal’s expenses are fully covered by the publisher (Palembang MediRose Publisher).

Advertising: The JPNS state the advertising policy, including what types of adverts will be considered, who makes decisions regarding accepting adverts, and whether they are linked to content or reader behavior (online only) or are displayed at random. Advertisements not be related in any way to editorial decision-making and be kept separate from the published content. JPNS states clearly its advertising policy and does not publish any advertising material.

Direct marketing: Any direct marketing activities, including solicitation of manuscripts that are conducted on behalf of JPNS, are appropriate, well-targeted, and unobtrusive. Information provided about the publisher and the journal is truthful and not misleading for readers or authors.
